Marketing can be scary and messy for some people. When I started my coaching practice I didn’t have any marketing plan in place and I quickly realised that without a marketing strategy my business dream will be only a dream. I also believe that we all have our own personal marketing style. You can prefer to write a blog, do weekly videos or deliver workshops. And with all the information out there about all the marketing strategies you can get lost and overwhelmed very easy. The true is that what is working for someone may not work for you.
That’s why before planning your marketing activities I invite you to discover your personal style.
Here is the recording of a Live Call Find Your Own Personal Marketing Style
Let’s focus now on how to plan your marketing activities.
- Time. First of all, ask yourself how much time do you want to dedicate to your marketing on a weekly or monthly basis.
If you are a full-time employee with a business on the side you will put fewer hours into developing your business. How many hours per day or week do you want to promote your business?
- Schedule your marketing days.
I dedicate two days per week to my marketing activities: Tuesdays and Thursdays. During those two days, I share my blog posts, podcast and any free offers on social media. I do all the calls with potential clients.
You can also measure how much time you want to spend on each task. For example 1 hour on sharing your videos, 1 hour on being active in social media groups, one evening for networking event. You can use a simple kitchen timer to measure your time.
Monday and Wednesdays are my Clients days when I do all my coaching sessions, Friday is my Admin Day and Saturday I focus on my own personal development.
- Plan and write it down.
Every month I plan all my activities and put them into my calendar. You can make your plan for 90 days. I personally prefer to plan for 30 days. At the beginning of each month, I sit down with my calendar and make my plan. If I know that I am going to attend a networking event, deliver a workshop or a webinar it is on my calendar. I use a simple paper calendar, you can use a digital one.
You can record all your videos, podcast episodes for the upcoming month in one day or write all your blog posts in one day. This is not working for me. I write my blog posts or record my podcast on a weekly or biweekly basis.
- Be flexible.
Sometimes unexpected challenges can come up on your way. Be flexible and adapt to the situation. Be gentle with yourself and do not blame yourself if you didn’t follow your plan.
- Have fun.
Marketing is all about having fun. Trying, testing new things. Explore what is the best way for you to get visible so you can have even more fun with it. Ask for feedback or support. Join mastermind groups or create your own to improve your marketing skills.
