How To Make Space For Something New In Your Life

Every Friday morning I focus on my admin tasks. I check my bank accounts and my weekly business expenses. This helps me to be on track with my financial goals.

I also look at my mail accounts and check emails. I read ones which are relevant to me and I delete all the rest.

On one of my accounts I realised to have emails from 2009, can you believe it? Those emails were important to me a few years ago but now I feel ready to delete them and make space for the new.

That’s how my decluttering started!

I didn’t follow any steps to free up more space in my life. What I did is to commit to it.

This is exactly what you can do, too. If you have things you wanted to get rid of for a long time, let them go and make space for the new things in your professional and personal life.

You can allocate some time, for example, one hour per week, go through your wardrobe and give your old clothes to a charity.

Why decluttering and making space for the new is so important?

  1. You are letting go of old things from your life
  2. You are freeing up your own space so you can attract new wonderful things in your life
  3. You are making some order in your life
  4. You are gaining a new energy
  5. You are seeing things from a new perspective
  6. You are more motivated
  7. You are starting something new in your life
  8. You are taking care of your life
  9. You are creating a feeling of freedom

There are many, many reasons for decluttering…

And as you know September is coming so it is a good idea to have a fresh start.

Think about:

  1. What do I want to let go off today?
  2. What aspects of my career or business require some decluttering?
  3. What can I remove: old magazines, books, emails…? (I am not talking about removing people from your life here, that’s different.)
  4. What changes can you do today?
  5. What is the most important part of your life that requires some decluttering?

Often when you are changing careers, countries, homes or introducing some new services to your business, you decide to say goodbye to some old things. This is what I am doing now in my business, I am saying goodbye to some old services and making the space for the new ones.

The feeling of letting go will come to you and at the beginning, you can resist to it. Sometimes it is hard to delete some emails or sell books you do not need any more. However, you will know when you are ready to start your decluttering . Take small steps, start with small things, like me I started with emails and then some bigger stuff went off.

What actions can you take today to free up your space for new opportunities in your life?
