What I Have Learnt From My Lockdown

It has been almost one month and a half since our lockdown here in Nice, and although as a digital flexpat (I see it as a kind of a mix between expat and digital nomad) I love to travel and visit new places I appreciate this time to slow down, retreat and quiet down.

I’ve been always an action taker and living in this space of constant improvement and working on my own business. I love doing that. But many times I found myself acting from urgency, insecurity, overthinking and rushing to complete my projects. And it is not the best place to be in and operate from.

This unusual situation that we’re all in somehow is helping me to slow down and look at my professional life from a different perspective and explore new understandings in the self-development industry that I was looking at since over a year now, and new things that I want to bring into my coaching business.

Finally, after two years of thinking about changing my website, I got a clear picture of how I want my new website to look and I’ve acted on these new ideas.

I know how I want to change my coaching programmes and what courses I want to enrol in shortly.

My core message for you in this post today is:

When your mind is slowing down, you let your thoughts pass and do not pay so much attention to your inner critic or you stop listening to what so many experts are saying you to do (especially in the self-improvement industry), you make more space for clarity, wisdom, and you start taking actions from a place of inspiration, and not from the place of fear (fear of being judge, fear of being not good enough, fear of missing out – you name it).

On the contrary, we have been always encouraged and applauded when we’re in a busy state of mind and overworking ourselves. And this hustling state of mind is causing a lot of self-insecurity, fear, stress or unfulfillment.

These I’ve learnt during my lockdown so far. Somehow during the lockdown, I found more freedom and peace of mind.

We are all facing many challenges right now and I’m not sure when we will be able to come back to our normality but I’m grateful for this time and all the insights I’m getting.

I see also this time as a great opportunity for everyone who is working in a service-based or online business. This is the time to take your career online or start your business online if you haven’t done it yet. To share your gifts and talents and be a solution to the problems of others.

So if you have been thinking about that it’s time to act on those ideas and put your insecurities apart. I’m sure that you have amazing gifts and skills to share. Don’t listen too much to your negative thoughts, let them go and you will make space for a new one. And create a new life and career vision. Look for the opportunity available to you.

What about you? What have you learnt so far? Your experience may be different. Please feel to share it here below in the comments. I would love to know.
