How To Find More Time And Do What You Love

A few days ago a friend said to me “I don’t have the time to do what I love”. “That’s very sad”, I thought. “So what could you do to find more time?” I asked. “I don’t know”, said my friend.

Time is the most priceless thing that we have. We will have always less time, every day. It is a very sad affirmation but it is true. We have all our clock clicking.

If you are like my friend and you hardly can allocate some time and do things you love, focus on your dream business, your hobby today’s blog post is for you.

Take a look at your business or career goals.

What do you really want to achieve? What is the most important goal for you right now? And focus on that. Once you achieved it move to the next one.

Say no to some activities.

When I started my business I said no to going out, going to the cinema (although I love cinema), going to the restaurants and seeing some friends. I wanted to have more time for my business.

You don’t have to sacrifice those activities forever, but when you are starting a new project it is good to review your daily, weekly, monthly activities and say no to some of them. And you can save some money too and invest them into your business.

Do not leave your day job.

I am always giving this advice to everyone who is thinking about starting a business.

Instead, can you ask for a part-time? Or can you work on your business on the weekend? Or allocate an hour in the morning or in the evening?

Even one hour per week or month working on what you love will move you one step closer to your goal.

Make a plan.

I don’t always stick to my plans, however, I like to have a plan. I do monthly plans. I have a very simple calendar with the activities and projects I want to put in place during the month.

Then I also do small daily list. I write down 3 important tasks for that day and also 2 or 3 less important tasks that I am maybe going to do. It helps me to manage my month and day.

What is your plan? How do you plan your activities?

Buy yourself a timer.

This is what I did. I bought a kitchen timer and put it on my desk. I use it when I have lots to do. I set up a timer for one hour and I focused for example on writing a blog post or answering emails. I take a 5-minute break and I start with a different project or carry on with the previous one.

It helps me a lot with being focused and keeping all the distractions away.

Flexibility and kindness.

As I said before I don’t always stick to my plans. Sometimes there are some unexpected challenges. That’s fine.

The point is to be flexible and adjust your plan or your goal so you can overcome those challenges easily.

If you didn’t reach your goal, be kind with yourself and instead of thinking that you are a failure ask yourself: What can you improve or do differently ?

Commitment.

I strongly believe that if you are 100% committed to work at what you love, start your dream business, change your career or lose weight you will achieve your dream vision.

Ask yourself:

What am I committed to right now?

What can you do to be more committed to your goal?

I sat down with my friend we spoke about visions, goals and passions and then we mapped out the 3-month plan so she could have more time to do what she loves.
