I’ve have been recently asking myself these questions again:
What does it mean to create a career on your own terms?
What are my own terms?
In June I spent some weeks in Nice, South France on my first digital nomad adventure. I love travelling and working and those are my terms, having freedom, independence and flexibility to work wherever I want. Work with the international community and discover new cultures.
And believe me, it is not so simple to create this kind of lifestyle but all the efforts are worth it.
So today I want you to stop for a moment and ask yourself this question:
What are my terms? Do you want to travel and work?
Do you want to move to a different location?
Or maybe you’ve just moved to a new city and you are thinking about what you can do?
You see, although I left my 9 to 5 job 4 years ago and enrolled on the entrepreneurial journey I was still following terms of others. I was comparing myself to other coaches, working with mentors, following what others did to create a successful business. I have nothing against it, I am still working with coaches and mentors however now I am doing all at my own pace.
I’ve realised how much pressure I put on myself. I’ve started to think that I do not enjoy my business anymore. I think that I reconnected with my freedom in France. French people are famous for not following the rules.
I am bringing more simplicity into my life and gratitude for what I have created so far.
Take the opportunity this Summer to evaluate your terms? This is a great time of the year to relax a little bit and reflect on your journey. We are halfway through the year.
Maybe you are stuck in a job you hate? Are you bored with your career and looking to discover your new path. You will be ready for a fresh start in September.
What do you want to do?
Be gentle with yourself and appreciate your achievements. It is so easy to compare with others and feel like you did nothing.
Write down your dream career vision.
Explore your career values.
Map out your skills.
Slow down.
Take all the time you need to build a career on your terms.
Think about what is missing in your career? What are you happy about? How do you imagine your working day, week or month?
Although I have my working routine and I have my schedule I like to do something different from time to time as I value variety.
What is your ideal working environment? Sometimes I like to work at home and sometimes I like to work in a park.
You have everything you need to craft a career you love but you must take actions. What is your action plan? And it can be a very simple plan, nothing overwhelming. Create your successful blueprint to a career you love.
If you want to discover how to start your coaching practice, how to move your business idea to the next level.
