Recently I have started different projects not only in my business but also in my personal development and somehow I felt that I was going in so many different directions, doing so many things that I felt overworked and overwhelmed. I know that sometimes you need to speed up to reach your goals but I wasn’t happy about how I was feeling about my situation.
I put too much on my plate, I thought and I decided to cut off some of the projects and focus on what was a priority for me and my business.
Last Tuesday evening I was on the group call with my mentor and it hits me when she said:
“Doing less better”.
This was for me and maybe you can relate too.
Are you going around in circles?
Doing lots of different things?
Do you feel angry with yourself because you didn’t do what you wanted to do?
Then it is time to slow down and do less and better.
Here is what I’ve decided to do:
1. Start your day with visualization or meditation.
Ask yourself: What are my goals for the day? Am I going to send an email, work on my blog post, have a call with a client, do research for my new project or work on my personal development?
2. Don’t make more than 3 things.
I decided to set up 3 important goals for each day and 2 less important (which can be done but are not necessary for that day). As soon as I implemented this time management technique I felt relieved as I always wanted to do so many things during the day. Instead, I committed to Do less better! So what are your 3 important goals for today?
3. Delegate as much as you can and as fast as you can.
This is another important step for me. I tend to do everything by myself. I like to have everything under control and be sure that everything is done as I want. However, this is not a mindset of a successful woman entrepreneur, a woman who is looking to move her professional and personal life to the next level.
So my goal for 2017 is to delegate more and ask for help and support so I can focus more on as they say “my zone of genius”. What activities, tasks can you delegate? Maybe you need some domestic help? Maybe it is time to hire a virtual assistant?
4. Priority by priority.
Let one step take it to the next one. When you are changing your career path, starting a business, moving to a different country you can feel that the time you have is not enough. If you have a family your kids want your attention, too. Take one step at the time and enjoy the process! When you are ready to go to the next one and then go to the next one. It sounds simple but for many of us, it is so difficult.
5. Give yourself permission to do what you want to do.
Do you want to change your job in 2017 and do what you want to do? Give yourself permission. Go for it. Explore your true desires and take actions toward your vision.
Doing less is definitely better not only for your business, career but also for your personal life. If you are in business your clients do not want to see you overworked or stressed, if you are in a career transition, going in a million directions will lead you to nowhere. So do less, better, delegate and prioritize and you will notice the difference in your life.
