I started this month with a lot of ideas about my business, new projects, services, programmes and collaborations.
However after the initial enthusiasm has gone I started to get distracted, couldn’t focus on the simple tasks, and was doing many things at the same time but at the end of the day, I felt as if I didn’t achieve what I wanted.
It wasn’t like me, I said to myself.
I was feeling out of purpose.
I was spinning around.
Sometimes you do not realise how much you put on yourself and how the desire to reach your goals can make you feel unfocused.
Sometimes your goals are even not your goals as you are watching what others do, you compare yourself and want to be at the same level.
You can lose your sight of direction and feel out of purpose.
And let’s face it after the Summertime it can be hard to come back on track.
Once it was clear to me that I needed to get out of this treadmill I quickly regained my focus and jumpstarted my action plan.
If you feel the same, can’t focus on your plan, you are out of track here are some steps which can help you.
1. Be grateful for what you have achieved so far.
Every evening for one week, I was writing 3 things I was grateful for like having some time off, going for a walk or recording a podcast.
It is very easy to forget our small successes and watch what others are doing.
Stop for a moment and think what are you grateful for, what do you already have, what have you achieved? And then listen to your feeling.
2. What are you excited about?
I looked at my list and I asked myself this simple question. How excited are you for this particular project now?
There were plans and projects I was excited about and I decided to follow them. I chose one project in particular and I highly recommend you to do the same.
Focus on one thing you are most excited about, this is what I always say to my clients. Is it a new business idea, a new service you want to offer, new career direction?
3. Reconnect with yourself.
Stop for a moment, take some time off, go for a walk. I took one day off, to be away from my thoughts, to relax and have some fun.
Once my mind was fresh and energised I asked myself what I wanted to achieve in the next 3 months?
And everything was clear to me. I regained my inspiration and energy. I was able to hear my true desires and reconnect with my vision.
