The role of the coach is to guide a person into their journey to achieve their goals, have a positive impact on their lives and accompany them in taking the next steps, discovering, and releasing their latent abilities, possibilities, and potential. As a client’s catalyst a personal development or a career coach can apply a list of skills and attributes to enable them to achieve progress.
The coach’s aim is to build honest and transparent rapport with the client in order to help them to express fully their needs, to feel comfortable and positive in the process.
By effective listening, the coach helps the client to create understanding and direction of their situation. The coach’s aim is to exercise global listening, pass beyond what is said and notice what is not said. By repetition, summarising, paraphrasing, using silence the coach helps to clarify and define the client’s decision.
The coach helps the coachee to take control of their lives and set a realistic and positive goal, break it down by asking relevant questions and using different tools and giving them something to aim for.
Using effective and open-ended questioning technique the coach can remove barriers, unlock hidden information, recognise and challenge client’s limiting beliefs.
The coach guides the coachee to discover a new perspective of seeing things, helps them to break out of a difficult situation and invent a range of new possibilities.
